The management of ASFINAG consists of the two chief executives Hartwig Hufnagl and Herbert Kasser and the directors of the individual companies.Board of Directors

Born in Upper Austria, Hufnagl studied law and subsequently worked for the Federation of Austrian Industries in the European Parliament in Brussels. From 2004 to 2006, he was a consultant for roads in the Minister of Transport's cabinet.
In October 2006 he joined ASFINAG as a lawyer, where he worked in Group Management and as an Assistant to the Executive Board. As of April 2009, Hufnagl was appointed Head of Network Management at ASFINAG Service GmbH, where he was also responsible for the launch of Traffic Manager. Since January 2018 the Secretary General of the ATTC (Austrian Traffic Telematics Cluster) has been Deputy Head of the Cabinet at the BMVIT.
On February 1, 2019, Hartwig Hufnagl was appointed Managing Director of ASFINAG for Operations/COO and is responsible, in particular, for operations and maintenance, strategy, innovation, research and development, legal and purchasing, human resources and communications. In February 2024, Hartwig Hufnagl was reappointed as ASFINAG board member for another five years.

Herbert Kasser majored in agricultural sciences and business at Vienna's University of Natural Resources and draws on a long career in public services. Born in Lower Austria, he has led the Federal Transport Ministry's Mobility division since 2008, prior to which he served as a department manager at the Budget division of the Federal Finance Ministry. In this role, he was responsible for infrastructure funding and the areas of traffic, innovation and technology. Most recently, Herbert Kasser served as the Secretary General of the Federal Climate Protection Ministry. An acknowledged expert for infrastructure, Kasser served on the Supervisory Board of ÖBB-Infrastruktur Bau AG, ÖBB Infrastruktur Betrieb AG and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency. On 1 June 2024, Herbert Kasser was made the Chief Financial Officer of ASFINAG, responsible for all matters relating to finance and accounting, human resources and tolls.

DI Andreas Fromm, MBA
born 1976
Andreas Fromm graduated from the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna. DI Andreas Fromm has been employed by ASFINAG since 2003. Until 2009 he was responsible for the planning of infrastructure projects at ASFINAG Bau Management GmbH. From 2009 to August 2014 he oversaw maintenance management at ASFINAG Service GmbH and from September 2014 he was Head of the Technical Coordination Department at the holding company. Andreas Fromm has held the position of Managing Director of ASFINAG Bau Management GmbH since March 2018.
DI Alexander Walcher
born 1969
Alexander Walcher studied landscape ecology and landscape architecture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. His main focus was on environmental law and environmental policy. In 1997, Walcher joined the procurement department of the former Österreichische Autobahnen- und Schnellstraßen AG (ÖSAG), and from 1998 he was the project manager for new construction projects. In 2003, Walcher became the head of the business unit planning, and in 2005 he was appointed head of the planning department of ASFINAG Bau Management GmbH. Since 1 March 2008, Alexander Walcher has been the managing director of this company; in this role he is responsible for commercial matters.
Ing. Mag. Bernd Datler
born 1973
From 1992 to 1998, Bernd Datler studied business management at Vienna University of Economics and Business. Following a trainee programme at Unilever, Datler was a management consultant for four years at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young in neighbouring countries and in Austria; in the last year and a half he was involved in the set-up of the lorry toll system. Datler then joined ASFINAG Maut Service GmbH, where he took over as head of the system development department in 2006. On 17 November 2009 Bernd Datler was appointed general manager of ASFINAG Maut Service GmbH, and in this role he is responsible for technical matters.
Mag.a Claudia Eder, MBA
born 1981
Claudia Eder studied economics in Linz and completed her Master of Business Administration (Global Executive MBA) at the WU Vienna and Carlson School of Management (University of Minnesota) in 2019. After a management trainee program at Thalia Buch & Medien, her career in the transportation industry began at Daimler in Singapore in 2007. Afterwards she moved to Vienna and was hired by the Austrian railways ÖBB in 2002. There, she served in several management positions at various organisations and became the Managing Director of the ÖBB-Business Competence Center GmbH in 2014. She also worked as a freelance business consultant in the framework of transformation and digitisation projects in the public and private sectors. In September 2021 Claudia Eder was appointed as Managing Director of ASFINAG Maut Service GmbH, where she is responsible in the fields of toll collection, enforcement and commercial matters.
Ing. Stefan Siegele
born 1970
Following his apprenticeship as a sawyer, Stefan Siegele attended the secondary technical school /civil engineering department in Innsbruck. He then worked 14 years as a construction manager and head of the special civil engineering department at HTB, a construction company in the Vorarlberg region, before being hired by ASFINAG in 2009 as the motorway maintenance officer in St. Jakob am Arlberg. Since 1 August 2016, Stefan Siegele has been head of the department for operational maintenance and network planning at ASG in Innsbruck, and on 1 January 2017 he also took over the management of ASFINAG Alpenstraßen GmbH. After Stefan Siegele had already been in charge of the management of ASFINAG Service GmbH on an interim basis for five months, he was appointed as its managing director in mid-September 2019 and headed ASG and SG in a dual function until the end of March 2022. Since April 1st, Stefan Siegele has again taken over the sole management of ASFINAG Alpenstrassen GmbH.
Mag.a Dr.in Tamara Maria Christ
born 1982
Tamara Maria Christ earned her law degree at the University of Vienna, following it up with a doctorate in criminal law. The law graduate also pursued a number of training courses at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in auditing and the requirements of supervisory board members. She started her career at Austrian Airlines in 2003. After spending a year as a university assistant at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology at the University of Vienna, Tamara Maria Christ returned to aviation, where she held management positions at various different companies. Her most recent position was as Board Representative Financial Aid, serving as a person with general commercial power of attorney [Prokuristin] and managing director of Austrian Beteiligungen GmbH of Austrian Airlines.
Tamara Maria Christ has been managing director of ASFINAG Service GmbH since 15 May 2022, where she is responsible for all operational maintenance matters, as well as for SG human resources, employee health and safety, property management and management controlling.
Heimo Maier-Farkas, MSc
born 1967
After several management roles in logistics and sales companies, Heimo Maier-Farkas joined ASFINAG as a department manager in 2009. He managed to turn ASFINAG’s Operational Maintenance Department into one of the leading winter service units in Europe. While working, he completed training to become a systemic company consultant as well as the Risk Prevention and Disaster Management master programme at the University of Vienna. Heimo Maier-Farkas will become the Technical Director of ASFINAG Service GmbH on 1 December 2022 and will henceforth be responsible for the divisions of system and traffic operation, service and control management as well as the services and fleet management sections.
DI (FH) René Moser, MBA
born 1979
René Moser studied infrastructure economics at the Joanneum Technical College in Kapfenberg, and in June 2015 he graduated from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the Carlson School of Management (University of Minnesota) with a Master of Business Administration (Global Executive MBA). In 2004 he joined ASFINAG as a project member in R&D, and from 2005 to 2007 he worked in the group strategy department, after which he worked as assistant to management until 2011. In addition to his regular responsibilities in Austria, he also represented ASFINAG in Brussels from 2009 to 2013. From 2009 to 2011, he was sent to ASECAP (European Association of Operators of Toll Road Infrastructures), after which he set up and managed the ASFINAG liaison office in Brussels. Since 1 January 2012, René Moser has been head of the strategy, international affairs and innovation department at ASFINAG, and on 1 October 2015 he also took over the management of ASFINAG Commercial Services GmbH. Since March 2016, René Moser has been a member of the board of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association – IBTTA.
Dr. Anton Sieber
born 1965
Anton Sieber studied engineering physics at the Technical Universities of Munich and Vienna. Afterwards, he completed a postgraduate degree at the Vienna University of Technology and the Danube University Krems. He joined ASFINAG in 1998 as a member of the technology team during the tender procedure and set-up of the Austrian lorry toll system. From 2005 to 2007, he was head of the group strategy department at ASFINAG. In September 2009, Anton Sieber was appointed general manager of ASFINAG Commercial Services GmbH, and in this role he is responsible for technical matters.
Mag.a Gabriele Csoklich
born 1964
Gabriele Csoklich studied Commercial Science at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Parallel to her studies, she spent nearly 6 years in France, where she also completed an international management programme in Paris. She launched her career at a major bank in France in 1990. Back in Austria, she worked in financing at ASFINAG between 1991 and 1998, most recently as a senior executive. This period was interrupted by a year in London, where she worked in an investment bank. In 1998 Csoklich moved to the Austrian Federal Financing Agency where she was in charge of a variety of areas until returning to ASFINAG in 2008. Gabriele Csoklich has been responsible for finance at ASFINAG since August 2008. In January 2015, she also took on the responsibility of the group's accounting. In March 2010, she was also appointed Managing Director of ASFINAG European Toll Service GmbH. From the beginning of February to the beginning of April 2019, she took over the interim management board positions in finance.
Dr. Wolfgang Treitler, MBA
born 1977
Wolfgang Treitler studied law at the Karl-Franzens-University of Graz. Following the completion of his court internship, he worked as an associate in the law offices of Scherbaum/Seebacher in Graz and Wolf Theiss in Vienna from 2005 to 2008. After finishing his doctoral studies in 2006 and successfully passing the bar exam in 2007, Treitler decided to join the law department of ASFINAG in 2008; he has been heading up the division of Legal & Purchasing since 2012. His professional expertise led Treitler to the role of vice president in the Austrian Society of Construction Law as well as to become a member of Committee 15, Tendering and Award Procedures in Austrian Standards. As of 1st October 2018, Treitler was appointed Managing Director of ASFINAG European Toll Service GmbH. From September 2018 to March 2020, Treitler completed the Executive MBA course at the Executive Academy of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, which he completed with excellent results.
